A small distillery in the west highlands, oban has a unique character, made of malt, iodine, salt, fruit and wood fire. to discover ! obligatory passage towards the hebrides islands, oban is a perfectly sheltered port which makes this city the capital of the west highlands but also the natural link between the mainland and the islands. founded in 1794, the oban distillery was built by the stevenson brothers. extensively refurbished in the 1890s, it nevertheless remains one of the oldest and smallest distilleries in scotland. because of the cramped space available between the cliffs and the sea, the bustling little town of oban has remained huddled around its distillery. this natural limitation to its expansion explains why the distillery has always had a little trouble meeting an ever-increasing demand.
