Bourbon, united states / kentucky this kentucky bourbon, famous for its yellow label bearing a rose, comes from the distillery of the same name. a good introduction to the world of bourbons. rated 8/10 by whiskey magazine expert dave broom: "nice balance, sophisticated." gold in color, the nose initially reveals ethereal and artificial notes reminiscent of varnish. it improves with aeration and evolves on the sweetness of the cereal (corn), on liquorice, vanilla and lime blossom. the light palate confirms the nose with notes of caramel and a short vanilla finish.

Whisky, united states / tennessee the essential jack daniel's is a whiskey from tennessee and not a bourbon (kentucky): in fact, after distillation, the whiskey is filtered through a layer of maple charcoal 3 meters high before being put in cask. this process, the lincoln county process, gives all its sweetness to the star of whiskeys! amber in color with orange reflections, the nose is soft, slightly woody with a trace of tobacco. the oily palate is marked by characteristic aromas of leather, burnt wood and tobacco. beyond the essential old no.7 aged at least five years with immediately recognizable notes of vanilla, citrus and oak, jack daniel's offers different expressions: gentleman jack, filtered a second time through charcoal, is even softer and more sophisticated; single barrel, a selection of absolutely superb barrels, with distinct pecan notes; finally monogram, a true jewel of the range and treasure of whiskey.

Rum, philippines tasting notes nose: the nose is very sweet, orange and vanilla. like an oriental confectionery, the rum caresses the nostrils with a pinch of icing sugar. one could think of a turkish delight flavored with strawberry or rose water. the candied orange peel still contains some of its slightly bitter oil, which brings a little more relief. palate: the palate is soft, fluid, and quite sweet. the confectionery and bubblegum atmosphere remains, however we could have expected a stickier texture. vanilla slides slowly on the tongue, orange gets in tune and forgets any hint of bitterness. on the other hand, there is a slight spicy, peppery note, which enhances the whole. finish: the finish is very sweet, between strawberry, banana and orange in the form of confectionery.

Rum, japan if someone says japan, you probably think whiskey! but do you ever think of rum? well you should! indeed, in the south of the japanese archipelago is the old rum ryoma located on the island of shikoku. the oldest sugar cane plantation in the country lends its cane to the production of this rum thanks to the extraction of its juice by grinding. once the ryoma rum is distilled, it will rest in oak barrels for 7 years, and it is the contact of the rum and the wood during all these years that will give it its light golden hue. the surprise of this rum comes once in the mouth, since it bears little resemblance to the rum as we know it. it would be closer to an eau-de-vie or a sake with a vanilla and caramelized taste mixed with citrus fruits. it is its notes of vanilla tea and jasmine flowers set on an iodized aftertaste that ryoma rum will bring you even closer to japan.
